BROOKSVILLE – If you thought hard rock faded out in the 90s, think again. It's not just the old fogeys playing covers in dive bars anymore, a younger generation still has what it takes to keep a four-piece pounding out hardcore rock.
Tonight only, 23-year-old Rocker Kyle Pogue joins other local talent, like Duff. E, Kat Hines, and Oshea at Savages Bar & Grill for Savage Slam!
Pogue told R News during a rehearsal in Spring Hill Wednesday that he started his musical journey in High school. Pogue says, "It started as a joke because a lot of the music coming out was garbage, but then people ended up liking my music." He goes on to say, "I was always making music for everyone else to like but not that I enjoyed, so over the years I discovered the roots of my music." Pogue says his dad was the biggest influence growing up. "My dad brought me up on all types of rock, mainly classic rock, and then I eventually found my niche."
Pogue is collaborating with Bassist Michael Coombs, Lead Guitarist Joshua Bjarkman, and Drummer Ben Stevens on future original songs which will be available at a later date.
In addition to great music, guests can expect foam to be flowing and other music by DJ Shalamar & DJ Denzil.
The event officially begins at 9:00 p.m. but guests are welcome to arrive earlier. There is a cover charge of $5.00 at the door.
Savages Bar & Grill is located at 1601 E. Jefferson Street in Brooksville.
