Between 2010 and 2019, former Real News Real Fast reporter Tom Lemons covered hard-hitting, breaking daily news, in Hernando, Pasco, and Citrus Counties. After uncovering corruption with local politicians, RNRF was forced to shut its doors due to boycotts and shady business deals. In January of 2022, Lemons decided to bring back news reporting to local communities, through his new website Rnews.news.

Lemons is a staunch proponent for preserving and protecting the First Amendment and he has risked his freedom more than once in exercising that right. The documentary Behind the Gate tells his story and illustrates just how far corrupt politicians will go to silence an inquisitive reporter.
