DADE CITY (HERNANDO) – Hernando County Fire Rescue responded to an accident with injuries this afternoon that resulted in a hazmat incident.
According to officials, Fire Rescue responded to the area of Cortez Blvd and Olancha Road around 1:00 p.m. after a rear end collision caused Muriatic Acid to spill onto the roadway.
The Florida Highway Patrol shut down the roadway until a Hazmat crew could remove the corrosive chemical.
One patient was airlifted to a trauma center with serious injuries.
