Sources: Spring Hill Man Facing Federal Conspiracy to Commit Arson Charge

SPRING HILL - A federal investigation is underway into a Spring Hill man who sources say has been charged with Conspiracy to Commit Arson.

Yesterday, several agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant at a residence on Boca Raton Street, where they arrested 21-year-old Xavier Joseph Batten on charges of Conspiracy to Commit Arson in a jurisdiction outside of Florida.

A spokesperson for the FBI could not discuss the details of the investigation, but stated, "I can confirm court authorized activity occurred at that location in connection with another field office investigation."

A source close to the suspect confirmed Batten's arrest and says, "He's never been in any kind of trouble in his life. He's not a criminal. He did nothing physical to be involved other than talk to people that he doesn't personally know online that were involved in criminal activity, which wasn't even in this state."

R News confirmed that Batten has no prior criminal history.

Rumors that batten's charge is related to the January 6th Capitol protest are not true, according to sources.

It should be noted that booking photos of defendants facing federal charges are exempt from disclosure until after a case is closed.
