Vehicle Used to Smash Through Gun and Pawn Store in Early Morning Burglary

SPRING HILL – The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is investigating an unusual smash and grab burglary that occurred early this morning at a local hardware store on Spring Hill Drive.

According to sources, around 4:00 a.m. this morning, burglars used a vehicle to smash through the side of Crowder Brothers Hardware, which is located at 12480 Spring Hill Drive. The business is a well-known gun and pawn store and usually keeps several firearms in stock. It is unknown what the burglars got away with at this time.

According to Fire Rescue officials, a Hazmat unit was dispatched to the scene to clean up a bleach and ammonia spill. The two chemicals mixed together due to the crash, but there are no reports of injuries or threat to the community.

The Sheriff's Office has not released a statement at this time.
