Pedestrian Struck and Killed Early Sunday Morning, Georgia Man Charged with DUI

LAND O' LAKES – One person is dead and another behind bars after an early morning crash on CR-54, Sunday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 31-year-old Land O' Lakes man was walking in the northbound lane of CR-54 around 2:30 a.m., when he was struck by a GMC Sierra near the intersection of Hyde Park Blvd. The victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Upon further investigation, FHP determined that the driver, 27-year-old Erick Enrique Zheng-Sam of Martinez, Georgia was impaired and subsequently arrested. Zheng-Sam is charged with DUI, but it is unknown if additional charges will follow in connection with striking the pedestrian.
