Abused Dog Found Dead in Garbage Bag, Investigators Searching for Information

LECANTO, Fla. – A gruesome discovery Wednesday, after residents in the area of W. Horace Allen Street found a plastic garbage bag with a deceased dog inside.

According to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, neighbors new something was wrong when they noticed a strong odor and unknown liquid seeping from the bag.

Upon further investigation, Deputies discovered an adult male dog, mostly black with reddish-brown hair, weighing about 25 lbs., short stubby tail (2"-3" long), and short floppy ears.

Officials say the dog had obvious signs of abuse.

Animal Control Officers say they will continue to investigate this case and are asking anyone with information regarding the animal involved, possible owner, or seeing this garbage bag disposed of at this location, to please contact their office at 352-249-2790.
