FHP Needs Help Identifying Vehicle in Gruesome Hit and Run Crash

DADE CITY – The Florida Highway Patrol has new information regarding a vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run crash that occurred early Easter morning.

The crash occurred around 3:30 am, Sunday on US-301, south of Desrosier Road. That's where officials say the driver of a silver Dodge sedan or low front end type van was traveling northbound, when it struck a 49-year-old Dade City woman who was walking on the grass. The force of the impact severed the woman in two, leaving the upper torso on the shoulder and her lower extremities in the roadway.

At 4:58 am, while Troopers were still investigating the original crash scene, a silver Chevy pickup truck traveled through the crime scene at a high rate of speed and ran over the victim's lower extremities. Officials say the suspect, later identified as 23-year-hold Andrew Thomas Krummen, nearly struck two Pasco County Sheriff's Deputies, and then fled the scene. Troopers pursued the vehicle for over 10 minutes before finally performing a successful PIT maneuver. Krummen was taken into custody and two passengers were able to exit the vehicle unharmed.

Krummen is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Motor Vehicle, DUI, Fleeing to Elude, Destruction of Evidence, Driving on a Suspended License, and False Imprisonment of his two passengers. Officials say the passengers were clearly seen trying to flag down Troopers and exit to vehicle during the pursuit.

Anyone with information regarding the initial hit and run crash is asked to call FHP or Crime Stoppers at *FHP and **TIPS respectively.
