BREAKING - Body Discovered in Burned-Out Vehicle

BROOKSVILLE – A body has been discovered in a burned-out vehicle at a residence on Hancock Lake Road.

According to sources, just after 4:00 p.m. today a Hernando County Sheriff's Deputy reported a vehicle fire at the 200 block of Hancock Lake Road. Prior to Fire Rescue arriving on the scene, the deputy reported observing a gas can in the front seat of the vehicle.

Upon arrival, firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which was beginning to spread to a nearby wood line. Upon further inspection, firefighters discovered a body inside the vehicle.

A crime scene has been established and Major Case detectives and the State Fire Marshal are en route.
