Bomb Discovered on Construction Site Near Brooksville - Tampa Bay Regional Airport

UPDATE 6:04 P.M.: Officials have given the All Clear. Spring Hill Drive will reopen.

BROOKSVILLE - Numerous Law Enforcement and Fire Rescue are on the scene of a construction site on Helicopter Drive, near the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport, where a WWII-era bomb has been uncovered.

Spring Hill Drive is shut down between US-41 and California Street and nearby businesses are being evacuated.

The airport will cease operations until the ordnance has been removed or neutralized.

Nearby schools have been notified but it is unknown if any have been placed on lockdown.

Officials say the bomb is an AN-M65.

Experts say If detonated, the blast wave could extend 3,000 feet, with bomb fragments launched as far as 5,000 feet - nearly a mile away.

UPDATE: Students at Nature Coast Technical High School and Chocachatti Elementary will remain inside until the situation has been resolved.

UPDATE 5:28 P.M.: The Citrus County Bomb Squad is on scene.
