Suspect in Custody After Shooting 17-year-old in the Back

HERNANDO – A suspect is in custody after shooting a 17-year-old in the back at a local apartment complex.

The shooting occurred at Mariner Cay Apartments located on Ridgeline Road (Northcliffe and Mariner) just after noon today.

The victim was transported to a trauma center where his condition is unknown at this time.

The suspect fled the scene but was located a short time later at Bridgewater Club Apartments on Commercial Way.

The suspect, who has yet to be identified, was taken into custody without incident.
