At Least One Injured in Separate Unrelated Early Morning Shootings

BROOKSVILLE – A woman is in custody after an early morning shooting that left a male victim in critical condition.

According to sources, 911 received a call about a shooting on Timber Lane around 7:25 a.m. this morning. Before deputies arrived on scene, the female suspect fled in a vehicle and was observed reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph.

Deputies finally caught up with the suspect in the area of Lake Lindsay Road, where they placed the woman into custody.

The victim was airlifted to a trauma center with multiple gunshot wounds. His condition at the time of the shooting was critical.

The Sheriff's Office has not released a statement and there are no further details at this time.

There are unconfirmed reports that an unrelated shooting occurred just after 9:00 a.m. in Spring Hill, but details of that incident are unknown.

UPDATE: Immediately after publishing our report on the two shootings, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office released two statements on the agency's Facebook page confirming the incidents. No specific details were released.
