Juvenile Corrections Officer Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

BROOKSVILLE – The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is reporting the arrest of a Pasco County-based juvenile corrections officer after investigators discovered child pornography inside his Weeki Wachee home.

According to officials, on December 23, 2023, detectives received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children who advised that a male subject had been viewing child pornography.

Through their investigation, detectives identified 34-year-old William Wilkinson, a Corrections Officer with the Pasco County Juvenile Detention Center as the suspect.

On January 5th, detectives obtained a search warrant for Wilkinson's residence on Frost Bird Road and arrested him on four counts of Possession of Child Pornography. Wilkinson refused to answer questions during an interview.

Wilkinson was booked into the Hernando County Jail and released on a $40,000 bond.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office does not release mugshots of law enforcement officers who are charged with a crime, even those charged with felonies involving crimes against children. Sheriff Al Nienhuis refuses to abide by the recent Florida Supreme Court decision that overturned protections for law enforcement under Marsy's Law. It's unknown if he plans to file an appeal to try and overturn the decision.
