Dramatic Pursuit Ends with PIT and Arrest of Brooksville Teen

NEW PORT RICHEY – A teenager faces multiple felony charges this morning after a multi-agency pursuit ended with a PIT maneuver. Pursuit Video

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Juelius Austin Matusiak fled from Pasco Sheriff's Deputies after committing a battery on law enforcement.

The Florida Highway Patrol and New Port Richey Police joined in a pursuit that began in the area of Trouble Creek Road. Troopers caught up with Matusiak who was driving a white pickup truck in the Area of SR-54 and Rowan Road, where they performed PIT maneuvers to bring the pursuit to an end.

Matusiak was taken into custody and charged with 2-counts of Aggravated Battery on LEO, DUI, and Fleeing and Eluding.

According to court documents, Matusiak was just released from the Hernando County Jail in September after accepting a plea deal on weapons charges, resisting arrest, and trespassing. To avoid prison, Matusiak accepted 2-years of felony youthful offender probation.

Matusiak's prior charges include Burglary, Grand Theft, Resisting Arrest, and Trespassing.
