Suspect Leads LEO on 30 Minute Pursuit after Attempting to Run Over Deputy

SPRING HILL – A harrowing chain of events in on the streets of Spring Hill tonight, after an attempt to arrest a suspect with several warrants turned into a high-speed pursuit.

According to sources, a deputy attempted to place a suspect under arrest at the Speedway convenience store located at Mariner Blvd and Northcliffe Blvd, when the suspect fled in the vehicle and struck the deputy with his car.

The deputy then began pursuing the suspect westbound on Northcliffe while numerous deputies and Florida Highway Patrol Troopers joined in.

The pursuit led law enforcement to Shoal Line Blvd, where they attempted to use spike strips to disable the vehicle. The suspect then brake checked a deputy, causing him to crash on Shoal Line Blvd.

A second attempt at using spike strips was successful but did not stop the vehicle.

A Trooper took the lead and performed a PIT maneuver, which caused the vehicle to spin off the road.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Sources say the suspect, who has yet to be identified, was wanted for Assault on LEO and several other charges.

There are no reports of serious injuries at this time.
