Woman Shot, Killed, While Sleeping with Two Children

NEW PORT RICHEY – A home invasion led to the shooting death of a woman early Tuesday morning.

According to the Pasco Sheriff's Office, detectives responded to a report of a shooting that occurred around 12:40 a.m. on Manifee Ct.

Sheriff Chris Nocco said during a press conference, that a man broke into the home, pointed the gun at an adult woman who was sleeping on a couch, then headed towards a back bedroom. The suspect then turned on a light and pointed a gun at a female victim who was lying between two young children. The victim sat up and said, "please don't shoot me." The victim was shot once, and she rolled onto the floor. The suspect shot her again and then fled the residence. The suspect is believed to have left in a vehicle.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Officials believe the suspect knew the layout of the home and intentionally targeted the victim.

The suspect is described as a man with a heavy build, 5"10", wearing dark clothing and a black skull-type mask.
