Subject in Armed Standoff Evades Capture, Then Returns After Deputies Leave

BROOKSVILLE - Just before 10:00 a.m. on Friday, deputies responded to a residence in the area of Ayers Road and Arlanie Ave, after receiving reports of shots fired inside the residence.

Numerous deputies surrounded the residence and utilized drones to aid in securing the property. Around 11:00 a.m., deputies used a loud speaker to try and get the male subject to surrender peacefully.

A robot was deployed inside the residence to make sure it was safe to gain entry. After a thorough search, it was determined that the subject had fled the residence at some point during the standoff.

Officials believe the subject was picked up by someone and left the area.

Sources say deputies have made contact with him by phone, but his location is unknown.

There are no injuries reported, as a result of the shooting.

Officials believe the incident is drug related.

UPDATE: 5:00 P.M.

Deputies were dispatched to the residence once again, after receiving reports that the subject had returned and was firing shots off the front porch.

The scene cleared again, shortly after the second response.

There are no further details at this time.
