Two Cave Divers Confirmed Dead in Weeki Wachee

WEEKI WACHEE - Hernando County Fire Rescue responded to Buford Springs in the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management area this morning, after receiving reports that two divers were unresponsive or missing.

Officials arrived on scene and discovered one victim had already been pulled from the water and was deceased. The second victim had not surfaced and was presumed dead. The body of the second victim was later recovered, according to sources.

Buford Springs and nearby Eagle's Nest have claimed the lives of at least 17 divers since the early 1980s.
