UPDATE - September 4, 2023: In a statement dated March 24, 2023, State Attorney Susan S. Lopez stated, “After completing our investigation, the State Attorney’s Office has elected not to file criminal charges at this time.”

HILLSBOROUGH – A general practice physician with Access Health Care in Spring Hill is accused of touching himself in front of a teenage girl on the University of South Florida Campus.

According to officials, on Monday, a 15-year-old girl reported an older man drove up to her requesting directions in Tampa. The victim stated that she provided directions multiple times, but the suspect continuously asked her to repeat herself. After taking a closer look at the suspect, she noticed he was exposed, and touching himself inappropriately. The victim immediately left the area.

Through investigative means, deputies determined Keivan Tavakoli, 52, was the suspect.

Deputies arrested Tavakoli at the University of South Florida campus on Tuesday, January 10th, after surveillance video showed Tavakoli on the USF campus several times.

"This was a trusted medical professional," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "The crime itself is sickening enough, but this was someone our community relied upon in their time of need. A trusted source of care, that's what makes this situation even more abhorrent. Our Eye on Crime cameras were certainly beneficial in this case. Thanks to this brave young girl's actions in reporting this crime, and the quick work of our dedicated detectives, this man can no longer victimize anyone else in our community."

According to the Access Health Care website, Tavakoli worked at the Spring Hill office, located at 5350 Spring Hill Drive.

At this time, Tavakoli faces charges of lewd or lascivious exhibition. If anyone believes they have been victimized by Tavakoli, please contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office immediately at (813)247-8200.
